Thom Yorke says Fuck An Album

That's what I've beeeeen saying. And now fiiiinally Thom catches up with me :)

Thom Yorke has announced that Radiohead will be dropping the "Long Playing" format in favor of Singles and EPs!

"None of us want to go into that creative hoo-ha of a long-play record again," he said. "Not straight off ... It worked with In Rainbows because we had a real fixed idea about where we were going. But we've all said that we can't possibly dive into that again. It'll kill us."

The problem isn't the format - "obviously, there's still something great about the album," Yorke said - but with the scale and consistency of vision that is required. "In Rainbows was a particular aesthetic and I can't bear the idea of doing that again. Not that it's not good, I just can't ... bear ... that."

Its a new day people... no one has the attention span to listen to an entire full length anymore. A mixtape with 27 tracks????? uhhh I can't make it through more than 5 songs without getting bored. The random button stays clicked down on peoples music libraries anyways... and even itunes has the "genius" tool that randomizes your tracks in a not-so-random fashion... The LP is for the past generation. The only time I can think of when I listen to an entire album front to back is on a road trip. And now in new cars they got the ipod plug thingy... so even that precious driving time is being taken away and the driver keeps one hand on the steering wheel and one hand on the ipod to switch up artists after the song is done. We now exist in a music biz where its not your last album that counts... but your last song. So if you release a shitty song... have no fear... the next day you can drop another one thats better (hopefully). If you don't suceed.... try, try and try again!! (But don't end up like Charles Hamilton... he's a little too over zealous with it)

Spotted at blogs.chron.com ... I immediately got the urge to smoke when I saw that URL

Edit: This Radiohead song has just surfaced. There are rumors its going to appear on a new EP they are working on.
